Brace yourself; a flood of geeking out is coming. The trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s 2014 Biblical epic “Noah” has finally arrived – a trailer I’ve been waiting for since I first heard about this movie last year – and I’m excited all over again. It looks more “The Fountain” than I had hoped, but oh well. I guess I could have expected that from Aronofsky. Russell Crowe, despite an Australian accent that Noah probably wouldn’t have had, looks amazing for the 600-year-old hero. Anthony Hopkins is even older as Methuselah, supposedly the oldest man who ever lived (he purportedly lived to be 969). Some critics are bashing the trailer as sacrilegious, saying that Aronofsky has no right to dismantle a holy text. Others are bashing him for making a Biblical movie at all, calling it all “fiction” (as if a story has to be grounded in truth to be produced by Hollywood…idiots!). I’m excited for this larger-than-life take on a story that (fact or fiction) was made for the big screen. And I’m glad an auteur like Aronofsky is behind the reigns. Here you go!
